Gonzalez (15:04.8) capped his CIF season by edging out Arcadia’s Estevan De La Rosa (15:04.9) in a photo finish to win the individual Division 1 state title at the 2012 CIF State Cross Country Championships. Gonzalez had the fastest individual time of the meet among all runners in all five divisions and becomes the first Charger runner to win a state title since former star Brandon Bethke claimed the honor in 2004.
