The most prestigious meet of the regular season is set for this weekend, as the county’s top athletes will compete under the lights at the 46th annual Arcadia Invitational at Arcadia High.

The two-day meet will once again feature elite high school athletes from around the state and the nation.

The invitational begins Friday evening with rated, seeded, and invitational relays races along with field events

It continues Saturday with the day meet, leading up the featured invitational competition Saturday night.

Also on this weekend’s schedule is the ASICS/Irvine Distance Carnival, which takes place Saturday at Irvine High. The meet is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and will feature 400, 800, 1,600, and 3,200 races.

BOYS & GIRLS GOLF

Krystal Kuihuis (Tucson, Ariz.) fired a 2-under-par 69 in the final round of the Heather Farr Classic on Sunday and then beat Los Alamitos senior Esther Lee in a three-hole playoff to win the girls division at the 54-hole AJGA tournament at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.

Lee posted a 1-under 70 on Sunday and finished the tournament with a 5-under 208 after shooting a 69 in both the second and third rounds.

Fountain Valley sophomore Lilia Vu finished in a tie for third, three shots behind the leaders after carding a final-round 69.

Danny Ochoa (San Diego) shot a 5-under 66 on Sunday to win the boys division with an 8-under 205. Sunny Hills freshman Justin Kim fired a 71 in the final round to finish in fourth, five shots behind.

Valencia freshman Derek Castillo shot a 2-over-par 73 on Sunday and finished tied for fifth in the boys division with a 2-under-par 211. He posted a 69 in both the first and second rounds and was never placed outside the top five during the tournament.

Tesoro sophomore Gordon Neale, who was the first-round leader aftering opening with a 68, shot his second consecutive 73 of the tournament on Sunday and fell into a tie for 10th.

WRESTLING

County wrestlers Aaron Negrette (Calvary Chapel), Peter Cunningham (Calvary Chapel), Gino Roman (El Dorado), Johnny Knowles (Calvary Chapel), Christian Claudio (Calvary Chapel), Josh Rus (Villa Park) and Josh Sowma (La Habra) will compete on Team California this week at the 2013 Flo Nationals tournament, April 5-6 at Indiana University in Pennsylvania.

Last year, California won the tournament.
