Girls soccer O.C. Top 10 (1-16-12)

Another wild week of soccer action saw several of the top teams in the county enjoy success and suffer tough losses.

With another exciting slate of league action on tap this week, here is a look at the OC girls’ soccer top 10.


1. Aliso Niguel (12-0-3, 2-0-1):
The Wolverines slipped by El Toro 2-1 in their only match last week. Aliso Niguel will host No. 3 San Clemente in a showdown for first place in the South Coast League on Tuesday before hosting Trabuco Hills on Thursday.

2. Corona del Mar (15-1-1, 4-0): The Sea Kings continued their hot streak with shutout victories over Woodbridge (2-0) and University (4-0). Winners of 12 straight matches, they will host Beckman on Tuesday and Northwood on Thursday.

3. San Clemente (12-2-4, 3-0):
The Tritons won matches last week over Trabuco Hills (3-0) and Mission Viejo (1-0). San Clemente will square off with No. 1 Aliso Niguel on the road Tuesday before visiting El Toro on Thursday.

4. Villa Park (13-2-3, 4-0): The Spartans make this week’s big leap in the rankings after extending their winning streak to seven straight with wins over Foothill (1-0) and El Dorado (3-0). Villa Park will host Brea Olinda on Wednesday and take on Canyon on Friday.

5. Mission Viejo (8-5-3, 1-1-1): The Diablos split two matches last week, defeating El Toro 1-0 at home before losing a close decision to No. 3 San Clemente on the road 1-0. Mission Viejo will host Trabuco Hills on Thursday in its only match of the week.

6. Santa Margarita (8-5-2, 2-1):
The Eagles blanked JSerra 4-0 at home in its only match of the week. Santa Margarita hosts Rosary on Saturday in its only match of the week.

7. Orange Lutheran (13-5, 2-1): The Lancers won two road matches last week against Mater Dei and JSerra by identical 3-0 scores. Orange Lutheran will play a road match against Rosary on Tuesday in its’ only match of the week.

8. Esperanza (10-5-4, 3-2): The Aztecs produced two shutout victories last week, beating Brea Olinda (1-0) and Canyon (1-0). They will play a road match Friday against El Modena in their only scheduled match of the week.

9. Canyon (9-4-3, 2-2):
The Comanches defeated Foothill 2-1 in overtime before dropping a home match to Esperanza (1-0). They will battle El Modena on Wednesday and Villa Park on Friday.

10. Sunny Hills (19-1, 3-0): The Lancers posted shutout victories over Buena Park (3-0) and Sonora (2-0). They will face Troy in a battle of league unbeatens on Tuesday before going on the road to face Fullerton on Thursday.


11-20. Dana Hills (11-4, 4-0), Edison (10-5-2, 1-1-1), Los Alamitos (7-4-5, 2-0-1), Foothill (6-3-6, 2-2), Mater Dei (6-5-4, 2-1),  Rosary (9-3-5, 0-1-1), Capistrano Valley (8-4-4, 2-1), Tesoro (7-6-2, 1-2), Troy (6-6-2, 3-0), Trabuco Hills (6-6-4, 0-2-1)
