They’re back …

After a six week hiatus, the Esperanza Aztecs return to the top spot in the county on the heels of a 12-match unbeaten streak.

The rest of the county’s top teams fared well last week, as the only team in the rankings to lose last week was previous No. 1 Santa Margarita.

With league play entering its final two weeks, here is a look at this week’s rankings with comments and upcoming schedule.

1. ESPERANZA (16-2-4; 7-0-1): The Aztecs return to the top of the county rankings after a 3-0 win over El Modena on Thursday, which ran their unbeaten streak to 12. They host Foothill on Tuesday, travel to El Dorado on Thursday, and host Brea Olinda on Saturday.

2. LOS ALAMITOS (13-5-3; 5-1): The Griffins defeated Huntington Beach in their only match of the week. They travel to Newport Harbor on Tuesday in a match-up of teams tied for first place in the Sunset League before traveling to Marina on Thursday.

3. DANA HILLS (8-1-6; 4-0-2): The Dolphins defeated Laguna Hills in their only match of last week and are now unbeaten in their last eight matches. Holding a one-point lead over Tesoro in the Sea View League with two matches remaining, they host Capistrano Valley on Saturday.

4. TESORO (11-2-5; 3-0-3): The Titans shutout San Juan Hills in their only match last week. They have a nonleague match at Aliso Niguel on Friday in their only match of this week.

5. CORONA DEL MAR (12-2-4; 6-0-1): The Sea Kings took control of the Pacific Coast League with wins over Northwood and Irvine last week, and have now gone five straight matches without allowing a goal. They can all but wrap-up the league title with a win against Woodbridge on Tuesday or University on Thursday.

6. SAN CLEMENTE (12-2-7; 2-0-3): The Tritons were off last week and will travel to Trabuco Hills on Thursday.

7. MATER DEI (11-3-4; 4-0-1): The Monarchs move up after defeating Santa Margarita and Orange Lutheran last week. They take on Rosary Tuesday afternoon at Cal State Fullerton in their only match of the week.

T8. MISSION VIEJO (10-5-1; 3-1-1): The Diablos defeated Aliso Niguel in their only match of the week, moving into a first place tie with San Clemente in the South Coast League. They host El Toro on Thursday.

T8. SANTA MARGARITA (19-4-2; 4-1-1): The Eagles were the only team in the top 10 to lose, falling at home to Mater Dei and playing Orange Lutheran to a scoreless tie before salvaging the week with a win against JSerra. The Eagles will look to sort things out during their bye week.

10. EDISON (11-5-4; 5-1): The Chargers defeated Fountain Valley in their only match last week to maintain a first place tie in the Sunset League with Los Alamitos and Newport Harbor. They are on the road twice this week with a match at Huntington Beach on Tuesday and at Newport Harbor on Thursday.
