Garden Grove scores early, rolls over Woodbridge
Argonauts improve to 2-0.
The Argonauts (2-0) scored dramatic touchdowns on two of their first three possessions.
On a broken play, Robby Stevens pitched the ball to Sean Young just before being sacked and Young scampered for a 24-yard touchdown to put Garden Grove ahead, 7-0, early in the first quarter.
After Woodbridge tied the score, Garden Grove took the lead for good on a fourth down play.
Young turned a screen pass from Stevens into a 32-yard touchdown to give the Argonauts a 13-7 lead with 51 seconds in the first half.
Neither team scored again until Garden Grove put the game away on a 3-yard dive by Jonathon Lopez on the second play of the fourth quarter.
Garden Grove’s Young finished with 76 yards rushing and 61 yards receiving in just three quarters.
Woodbridge (0-2) was led by Kyle Merritt, who had 64 yards receiving and 17 yards rushing.
