Northern California to co-host state bowl games
CARSON - CIF executive director Robert Blake announced Friday that the state championship bowl games will be played at a Northern California location beginning in 2015.
The Home Depot Center in Carson will continue to host the games through the 2014 season. Beginning in 2015, the games will then be on a rotational schedule between Southern and Northern California locations.
The CIF state championship bowl games have been played at The Home Depot Center since their inaugural season in 2006.
The CIF also announced that the basketball state championships will be rotated between Southern and Northern California beginning in 2016.
Sacramento has been the longtime host of the boys and girls basketball state championship games, but a Southern California location will be chosen to host the event when the contract with Sacramento expires after the 2015 season.
The press release stated that the rotational schedule “will allow the student-athletes and fans, in all parts of the state, the opportunity to share in the excitement of CIF Championship events.”
