Los Alamitos offense gets back on track
LONG BEACH - Los Alamitos' Cody Paul, Dylan Lagarde and Kyle Roberts aren't used to being held in check by opposing defenses, but that's exactly what Edison did last week in a three-point victory over the Griffins.
"That was rough," Roberts said. "From Week 1, we've been high-powered and scoring all the time. ... To only get seven, that was tough."
That trio wasn't going to let it happen two weeks in a row. The three seniors accounted for all of Los Alamitos' touchdowns in a 28-0 homecoming victory over Fountain Valley on Thursday night in Sunset League action at Veterans Stadium.

The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for Los Alamitos (5-2, 1-1).
Paul rushed for 182 yards on 18 carries despite being the focal point of Fountain Valley's defense.
"It's a potent offense, but you have to control (Cody Paul)," Fountain Valley coach John Shipp said. "He's their offense. He's their go-to guy, and they're going to get him the ball."
Paul added to an impressive highlight reel in the second quarter, taking a handoff to the left sideline, where the defense collapsed. Seemingly bottled up for a loss of yardage, Paul broke three tackles going all the way across the field for a 34-yard gain.
"I don't know how he does it," Roberts said. "But I expect him to do it twice a game."
With the defense focused on the running game, Lagarde bounced back from an early interception to throw for three touchdowns, including a pair to Roberts.
"He played really well after that first pick," Los Alamitos coach John Barnes said. "It's real important because we need him to play well."
Lagarde passed for 98 yards on nine completions after opening the game with an interception.
"We definitely came back." Roberts said. "It feels great, and I hope we can just build on this and keep moving forward."
Fountain Valley (3-4, 0-2) also has reasons to be optimistic moving forward, Shipp said.
"We got better," Shipp said. "It doesn't reflect in the score, but the way we had been playing showed an inability to do much at all. But we showed that we could move the ball some; we just didn't convert."
While thing were fairly festive, the night started on a somber note.
Before the game, a moment of silence was observed to honor the victims of the Oct. 12 shooting in Seal Beach.
