Beckman's Kim runs over Northwood for five TDs
IRVINE – It turns out last week was just a warmup for Jeff Kim.
After rushing for 191 yards and two touchdowns last week against Woodbridge, Kim ran for 253 yards and five touchdowns Thursday in visiting Beckman's 52-31 victory over Northwood in a Pacific Coast League game at Irvine High.
Kim, who was not allowed to play in three games because of undisclosed reasons and returned to action for the Woodbridge game, had 218 yards in the first half and scored four touchdowns in the second quarter.

For the season, Kim, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound senior, has rushed for 621 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Beckman is in first place in the Pacific Coast League with a 2-0 league record. The Patriots have a half-game edge over Corona del Mar and Irvine, both 1-0 going into their game against each other Friday at Newport Harbor High. Northwood is 0-2 in league.
Beckman, 5-2 overall, plays University in a league game next Thursday in a Patriots home game at Tustin High. Northwood (2-5) plays Irvine at Irvine High in another league game next Friday.
Northwood played Thursday without Tyler Zorn, the county's leader in receptions with 54. Even without him, Timberwolves quarterback Ricky Bautista threw for 331 yards on a busy 27-for-35 night. Bautista tossed three touchdown passes.
Kim scored on runs of 3, 17, 75 and 24 in the second quarter. He added a 1-yard scoring run in the third.
Northwood briefly led, 7-3, but Kim's first touchdown run, this one of 3 yards, gave Beckman the lead for good.
