Capistrano Valley's offense too much for Aliso Niguel
Game played at Capistrano Valley High.
MISSION VIEJO- Capistrano Valley had its biggest offensive performance of the year and snapped a three-game losing streak with a victory over Aliso Niguel, 46-14, on Friday night in a South Coast League game.
The Cougars (3-3), who entered averaging just 16.4 points per game, were led by junior quarterback Brandon Brennan. Brennan's combined yardage — 128 rushing and 124 passing — eclipsed the total offensive output of the Wolverines (0-6). (Full game stats.)
Equally impressive was Capistrano's defense, which after allowing at least 28 points in each of its past three games allowed just 198 yards of total offense.
For Aliso Niguel, inconsistency and turnovers were too much to overcome. In the second quarter, junior quarterback Joseph Galosic threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to tight end Chad Seymour but followed with six incompletions on his next seven passes.
The Wolverines' running game was never able to get off the ground. Running backs Jason Long, Blake Lawrence, Michael Carroll and Daniel Hwang combined for just 10 carries and 13 yards.
