Katella vs. Sunny Hills
Vince Peraza's 186 passing yards helped Katella High defeat Sunny Hills, 22-7, in a nonleague game at Glover Stadium on Thursday night.
Sunny Hills (1-3) came out strong when Carlos Magdaleno scored in the first four minutes of the game with a 1-yard quarterback sneak. The Lancers failed to score for the remainder of the game.
With about four minutes left in the first quarter, Katella (1-2) put its first points on the board with a 52-yard TD run by P.J. Papalii, who rushed for 96 yards in the first half before getting injured and leaving the game.
The Knights' second touchdown came in the third quarter with a 15-yard pass from Peraza to Brian Porter.
After two touchdown passes were called back because of penalties, Katella finally scored again in the last two minutes of the game when Peraza rushed for a 9-yard TD. Peraza went 10 for 17, rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown, and had two interceptions on defense.
Wide receiver Anthuan Lara finished with 162 yards on eight receptions.
