SANTA ANA - The Segerstrom Jaguars are well on their way to their first playoff appearance after defeating the Saddleback Roadrunners, 48-3, Friday night at Jaguar Stadium. (Full game stats.)
With the win, they secured the third spot in the Golden West league.
The Jaguars (6-4, 3-2) got off to a fast start as Aaron Amrine ran 43 yards for his first of two touchdown runs in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Nicolaus Powell-Calhoun was the recipient of two passing scores, 74 yards and 22 yards, from quarterback Brian Murrieta, who went 4 for 5 for 135 yards and added a rushing score.
Powering the offense for the Jaguars was junior running back Matt Navarro. Navarro carried 9 times for 164 yards and a 25-yard touchdown run.
The Jaguars overwhelmed the winless Roadrunners putting up 420 total yards of offense in the 1st half on route to 542 total yards on the night.
The Jaguars held the Roadrunners to 115 total yards in the game with a stout defense.
