Bonner paces Troy victory over Buena Park

BUENA PARK - Troy running back DeAngelo Bonner rushed for 151 yards on 16 carries and scored two touchdowns in Troy's 34-12 Freeway League victory over Buena Park on Friday night at Buena Park High. (Full game stats.)

Bonner started the scoring for the Warriors (2-6, 1-2) with an 18-yard touchdown run with 5:40 left in the first quarter.

With 10:06 left in the second quarter, his apparent 15-yard touchdown run was negated by a penalty.

With 9:48 left in the second quarter, Troy scored again when quarterback Kyle Smith rumbled across the goal line on a 815-yard keeper.

The first score for Buena Park (1-7, 0-3) came when quarterback Troy Nelson threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Chris Chambers. Nelson finished 8 of 17 for 105 yards and a touchdown. He also threw two interceptions.

Two of Troy's offensive stars, Bonner and wide receiver Manuel Carillo, also had interceptions while in on defense.

With 1:18 left in the first half, Carillo caught a 820-yard touchdown pass from Smith.

Carillo finished with five catches for 79 yards.
