FULLERTON - Justin Austin rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns to lead Troy past Buena Park, 41-7, Friday night in a Freeway League game at Fullerton High.
Troy's coaches gave UCLA-bound RB Derrick Coleman the night off.
The Warriors offense started strong, scoring 41 points on six first-half possessions.
Troy (5-2, 1-1) had its first score set up by a Chris Chung interception at the 49-yard line. He ran it back to the 1, and Austin scored from there.
The Warriors scored next when Tyler Swaney connected with his cousin, Josh Swaney, for the first of their two TD hookups in the game.
Chaz Wendt had 72 rushing yards, including a 31-yard touchdown run in the first half.
Austin scored on runs of 38 and 10 yards in the second quarter to extend Troy’s lead to 41-0.
“This team is very resilient,” Austin said. “I am proud of the way we came out tonight and avenged our last two losses.”
Justin Blackburn scored for Buena Park (0-7, 0-2) on a 6-yard run late in the game.
