Kickoff 2012: Anaheim preview
Last season record: 6-5, 4-1 league (T-1st)
Postseason: 2011, lost to Laguna Beach, 49-13, in first round of Southern Division playoffs
Coach: Lanny Booher, 8th year (49-40)
Home stadium: Glover Stadium
Outlook: The Colonists lost seven first team all-leaguers and the league’s MVP in Anthony Covarubias off last year’s co-league championship squad. But Anaheim does return four starting offensive linemen and have reloaded with players off its league championship freshmen and junior varsity squads. Anaheim’s secondary will be all new, but that shouldn’t be too much of a problem in a run-dominated league. Booher feels confident this year’s squad can make the playoffs, but added he would like to see the program “step it up” and win a playoff game or two. If the Colonists remain healthy, expect them to contend for another league championship.
Factoid: Anaheim has defeated Santa Ana Valley in their last three meetings and four out of the last five.
School record: 496-359-38
