Bolsa Grande earns first road victory in a decade

SANTA ANA - Bolsa Grande seized a perfect opportunity to win their its first road game in more than a decade, running to a 32-7 victory on Friday over Godinez at Segerstrom High School.

"It's a huge shot in the arm for us," said Matadors head coach Jim Lamb said. "We've been slowly getting better. But it's kind of nice to make it happen away from our stadium."

Four Bolsa running backs reached the end zone, including a 24-yard burst by Marcio Parrales with six minutes left in the first half.

On the fourth play from scrimmage, quarterback Jesus Segovia launched a 35-yard touchdown pass to receiver Jesse Esparza. From there, the Matadors used eight different backs to reach 173 yards on the ground. Junior Mikhail Lowery led the team with 79 yards on nine carries and one score.Godinez, playing their its first-ever varsity home game, showed their mettle in the second half.Trailing by 26, they strung together a 14-play drive, capped by a 28-yard touchdown pass from Victor Silva to Omar Sanchez.
