French wins South Coast League title
San Clemente Municipal is a deceivingly tough golf course, one that seems to get the best of even some of the best girls golfers in the county.
During the Lady Triton Invitational, only a select few in the 100-plus player field broke 80.
Avery French, however, didn't seem to have much trouble figuring this track out as she won her second consecutive South Coast League title by 17 strokes.
She finished the 36-hole tournament on Tuesday with a 2-under-par 144 after posting a 72 in both the first and second rounds.
Joo Seo (Aliso Niguel) finished second after carding a 161 followed by Haley Fuller (Trabuco Hills), who posted a 162.
Brittany Farrell (Mission Viejo) and Elizabeth Soewondo (Dana Hills) both posted a 164, but Farrell took fourth place on a cardoff. Soewondo finished fifth and earn the final transfer spot into the CIF-SS Southern Individual Regional which will be played on Oct. 31 at Recreation Park in Long Beach.
