Brethren Christian falls to Western Christian

COVINA -- Despite a 28-12 loss to unbeaten Western Christian on Saturday afternoon, Brethren Christian coach Bruce Eien felt pretty good about his squad’s performance.
The Warriors (0-5) have played three unbeaten teams this year, which Eien said will prepare his squad for league play. Eien said all the Warriors’ opponents have been ranked in the top 10
Behind 21-0 to start the fourth quarter, Brethren closed to 21-12 midway through the period on a 3-yard pass from Brad Hess to Drew Fabriegas and a 1-yard run by Fabriegas, who rushed for 103 yards.
“We wanted to run the ball more to take some of the pressure off Brad,” Eien said.
Hess was 9 for 18 for 123 yards. Matt Bodziak caught five balls for 71 yards to lead the way.
The Warriors would get no closer, however, as the Lancers (5-0) recovered the ensuing onside kick and scored nine plays later on an 11-yard run by Ryan Salausa.
“If we play the way we did today later in the season (against league teams), we’ll be just fine,” Eien said.
