•Last year's final standings: 1. Los Alamitos (26-5 overall, 10-0 league); 2. Edison (14-13, 5-5); (tie) Newport Harbor (16-10, 5-5); 4. Marina (16-11, 4-6); 5. Fountain Valley (13-10, 3-7); (tie) Esperanza (11-16, 3-7).
•In the CIF-Southern Section Division I-A playoffs, Los Alamitos won the division championship with a 67-50 victory over Redondo Union in the final. Newport Harbor advanced to the second round.Edison was eliminated in the first round. Marina and Fountain Valley were eliminated in the wild-card round.
•Los Alamitos returns Corbin Moore, an inside force, and has a talented group around him. Dillon Ratleff is the son of former Long Beach State star Ed Ratleff.
•Edison's Kyle Boswell averaged 18 points last season. Eric Ferraro averaged eight points and seven assists, and Carl Eberts scored eight a game.
•Newport Harbor's Kyle Caldwell could be one of the top big men in the county. Fountain Valley, with David Swartz and John Camarena, has the size to compete for a playoff berth.
•Esperanza's Carlos Ortin and Chad Delaney leads a strong group of guards for the Aztecs.
•Marina will be one of the highest-scoring and most-entertaining teams in the county, with its reliance and full-court pressure and 3-point shooting.
