Sunset League notebook

•Last year's final standings: 1. Los Alamitos (26-5 overall, 10-0 league); 2. Edison (14-13, 5-5); (tie) Newport Harbor (16-10, 5-5); 4. Marina (16-11, 4-6); 5. Fountain Valley (13-10, 3-7); (tie) Esperanza (11-16, 3-7). �

•In the CIF-Southern Section Division I-A playoffs, Los Alamitos won the division championship with a 67-50 victory over Redondo Union in the final. Newport Harbor advanced to the second round.Edison was eliminated in the first round. Marina and Fountain Valley were eliminated in the wild-card round. �

•Los Alamitos returns Corbin Moore, an inside force, and has a talented group around him. Dillon Ratleff is the son of former Long Beach State star Ed Ratleff. �

•Edison's Kyle Boswell averaged 18 points last season. Eric Ferraro averaged eight points and seven assists, and Carl Eberts scored eight a game. �

•Newport Harbor's Kyle Caldwell could be one of the top big men in the county. Fountain Valley, with David Swartz and John Camarena, has the size to compete for a playoff berth. �

•Esperanza's Carlos Ortin and Chad Delaney leads a strong group of guards for the Aztecs. �

•Marina will be one of the highest-scoring and most-entertaining teams in the county, with its reliance and full-court pressure and 3-point shooting.
