Edison dominates LB Millikan
Comments 0 | Recommend 0COSTA MESA - Wade Houston and Jeff Trojan each scored a touchdown on both sides of the ball as Edison took an 35-point halftime lead and emerged with a 58-14 victory over Long Beach Millikan in the first round of the Pac-5 Division playoffs Friday night.
After Edison’s Davion Orphey returned the opening kickoff to the Millikan (6-5) 17, Houston capped a short drive that turned out to be the first of three touchdowns in the first half.
Edison’s Jordan Zumwalt forced a pair of turnovers in the first half. He picked off a second-down pass on Millikan’s first drive and snagged a fumble later in the quarter ahead of a 5-yard yard toss from quarterback Matt Viles to Dylan Leener that made it a 21-0 game after 12 minutes.
Viles, who ended with 107 passing yards and three touchdowns and an 11-for-19 effort, connected with Leener again to start the second quarter, and that’s when Trojan and Houston came alive on defense.
Trojan snagged the second interception of the game for Edison (11-0) on Millikan’s first drive of the quarter, running it back 34 yards, and Houston followed him up just 1:41 later with a 54-yard pick to make the score 42-0 with 8:40 to play in the half.
