Hot El Dorado ousts Santa Ana Valley
PLACENTIA - Seth Davis and Jordan Long each rushed for over 100 yards and scored two touchdowns as El Dorado cruised to a 42-14 victory over Santa Ana Valley in the opening round of the CIF Southwest Division playoffs Friday night at Valencia High.
El Dorado (7-3-1) advances to next week’s quarterfinals, playing host to top seed La Habra. It was in the same round last year that La Habra downed the Golden Hawks, 23-14, en route to the Southwest Division title.
Davis finished with 121 yards on 14 carries while collecting 101 yards in eight rushes. El Dorado posted 473 yards in offense, scored on its first three possessions, and held Santa Ana Valley (7-4) to 247 yards.
Davis ran for his touchdowns of 4 yards early in the second quarter and 5 yards with four minutes gone in the third period.
Long scored the Golden Hawks’ final two touchdowns on runs of 5 and 37 yards. El Dorado gained 386 of its yards on the ground.
Darius Nacoste provided what little highlights came from Santa Ana Valley. He ran for 177 yards on 30 carries and scored a touchdown, plus he returned a kickoff 91 yards.
Falcons quarterback Carlos Acevedo had his team’s other touchdown on a 1-yard run.
