Foothill takes lead in Sea View League
Dane Worley finishes with 31 kills and 10 aces to lead the Knights.
With first place on the line in the Sea View League, the performance of Foothill senior Dane Worley went along way toward guiding the Knights to a boys volleyball victory Wednesday night.
Worley had 31 kills and 10 aces as the Knights rallied to defeat No. 4 Huntington Beach, 23-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-15, at Huntington Beach High.
"After the first game, I told the team it was all about energy," Worley said. "This win helps us a lot, but we need to stay focused and work hard."
The Knights (9-8, 4-0) moved into sole possession of first place.
"Both emotionally and physically, Dane was a real leader tonight," Knights coach Scott Simpson said.
Having won five consecutive matches coming into the first place showdown, the Oilers (11-6, 3-1) picked up right where they left off, as they built a 16-11 advantage and held on for the opening game victory.
The Knights trailed 16-12 in game two, but Worley led the comeback.

IN TENNIS:
Dana Hills 16, Mission Viejo 2: The No. 7 Dolphins lost one game in nine singles sets and defeated the Diablos in South Coast League play at Dana Hills High.
The Dolphins received sweeps from Nos. 1, 2 and 3 singles players Jim Myers, Chris Bloom and Trevor Dell. Dell and Myers swept at love, while Bloom turned in a golden set in the final round.
Dana Hills No. 1 doubles team of Kevin Fuhrmann and Jeremy Chang swept, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0. The Dolphins played without their top player, Warren Hardie, who is competing at the Easter Bowl tournament. They were also without doubles players Mark Sadd and were forced to switch up their doubles lineup.
It didn't slow the Dolphins a bit, who won their 46th consecutive league match and have picked it up as of late.
"We got off too a slow start," Dolphins coach Justin Green said.
"We weren't playing that well in preseason. We had rough schedule and we were playing the top teams."
Some of the improvement has come with the increased level of play from the doubles. Without Sadd, the Dolphins mixed and match, which allowed seniors George Chang and Stephan Forner to play. The pair won two of three sets.
The Dolphins singles dominated, with Bloom the only player to drop a game. However, he turned in the most impressive performance by recording a golden set in his final round. Bloom had lost his lone game when his opponent scored the game point off a let cord and Bloom couldn't reach the ball.
Bloom receive a bit of luck of his own in the next round during his golden set. He floated a ball long, only to have it hit off his opponent's foot before bouncing and continuing Bloom's perfect set.
