Looking back at a huge victory and forward to Week 5's key showdowns.

Notes from Orange County high school football:

Sickness and injuries depleted Edison both before and during this past Friday's nonleague showdown against Mater Dei.

Quarterback Matt Viles was sick during the week and running back Wade Houston and defensive lineman Erick Loera were out with injuries.

Wide receiver Michael Rivera and running back Davion Orphey left the game in the first half. The Chargers managed to press on.

"We had some kids play that were backups," Edison coach Dave White said. "We had some injuries and sicknesses, and we had some kids in there who were playing JV's (junior varsity) last week, so I'm proud of them."

The defense held Mater Dei to 14 points, its lowest output of the season.

"We're kind of a bend-but-don't-break defense," White said. "We gave them some yards from 20 to 20, but we toughen up when we had to. It was just a great team effort."

Viles, who battled flu symptoms during the day of the game, said: "It was a good team win. Offensive line was great, the defensive line was awesome, linebackers, defensive backs, they all played great.

Tickets for the Oct. 17 Servite-Mater Dei game at Cal State Fullerton are available now through the Servite business office (714-774-7575, ext. 1151), but they are selling extremely fast.

The premium seats ($12) sold out Monday afternoon. Seating is only available in the general admission and student sections.

Tickets will be available at Mater Dei during Oct. 13-15. There will not be any tickets available at CSF the night of the game.

• The Servite-Mater Dei game isn't the only big game on the schedule for Oct. 17.

Undefeated South Coast League rivals Mission Viejo (5-0) and Tesoro (5-0) will meet in the league opener for both teams at Tesoro. Both teams are off this week.

The Titans defeated the Diablos last season, 28-24. This year's meeting will be televised by  Prime Ticket.

• Two county teams will take on L.A. City Section teams this week. No. 4 Los Alamitos will visit Narbonne (4-0) of Harbor City, and No. 5 Orange Lutheran plays host to Banning (2-2) of Wilmington at Orange Coast College. The Griffins will have to contend with Narbonne's USC-bound wide receiver Byron Moore Jr.
