Santa Margarita's Dapper set school record
For the second time this season, a school record has been set by Santa Margarita at Coto de Caza Club
First the Eagles shot a school-best 201 on the South Course in September to beat Salpointe Catholic from Tuscon, Ariz. And then on Thursday, Kelly Dapper shot a 4-under-par 32 on the more challenging North Cousre to help Santa Margarita defeat Orange Lutheran in a critical Trinity League match that helped the Eagles finish second in the standings.
Dapper's mark eclipsed the previous low round for an Eagles girls golfer which was set last season by Kelsey Hummer when she posted a 3-under-par 33 at Tijeras Creek.
Dapper had three biridies and four pars on Thursday. She even eagled the par-4 No. 7
She also needed just 11 putts to finish her first round on the North Course this season.
"Kelly's score today was a true reflection of her talent as a golfer," said Amy Connelly, the director of the girls golf program at Santa Margarita. "I am so proud of how hard she has worked and how well she is playing."
It has been quite a week for Dapper as she shot an even-par 36 at Arroyo Trabuco on Tuesday, and medaled twice for the Eagles.
