OCVarsity previews football teams for the 2008-09 season.

Liberty Christian

Last season: 1-8, 1-6 (7th in San Joaquin League)

Postseason: 2005, lost to South Bay Lutheran, 64-22, in first round of 8-man playoffs

Coach: Nick Karavedas (1st year)

Outlook: The Minutemen have returned to the 8-man ranks after a rough stretch at the 11-man level. Karavedas has some building to do but is familiar with the task. He spent the past six seasons building an 8-man program from scratch at Lighthouse Christian in Idaho. The past two seasons, the school went a combined 13-5. Liberty Christian will be part of the Express League in 2008. Karavedas has 16 players on his roster, including eight with experience. Before Idaho, Karavedas was an assistant at Calvary Chapel of Downey.

Home stadium: Murdy Park

Factoid: The Minutemen went 1-17 the past two seasons in 11-man football.
