Fairmont Prep Huskies
Last season: 7-4, 6-1 (2nd in San Joaquin League)
Postseason: 2007, lost to Calvary Murrieta, 32-14, in Northeast Division first round
Coach: Bobby Mendoza (4th year, 20-12)
Outlook: Mendoza likes the Huskies' depth at the skill positions and their speed, and with good reason. He believes receiver Richard Johnson has Division I-A-type ability and running back David Jocson is a quick freshman. But Fairmont also has plenty of inexperience, too. The Huskies have only nine seniors and two juniors on their squad. Kevin Wagner is a first-year starter at quarterback and two linemen and the tight end are sophomores. But if the youngsters come along, Fairmont could remain near the top of the San Joaquin League. Early-season games against Sage Hill and St. Anthony of Long Beach could be revealing.
