How they got there: Desert Christian, champion of the Desert Mountain League, def. Rosamond, 20-5, in the first round; Cal Lutheran, 17-1, in the second round; Santa Clara, 2-1, in the quarterfinals; Desert Academy of Bermuda Dunes, 8-7, in the semifinals. Capistrano Valley Christian, champion of the San Joaquin League, def. Chadwick of Palos Verdes Peninsula, 18-0, in the first round; Vasquez of Acton, 19-4, in the second round; Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth, 6-1, in the quarterfinals; St. Margaret's, 6-5, in the semifinals.
Outlook: Desert Christian's Knights reached the 2010 Division 6 final, in which they lost to Oxford Academy. They went 12-0 in the Desert Mountain League and have won 13 games in a row.
Capistrano Valley Christian's Eagles are in a CIF-SS baseball championship game for the first time. They take a 13-game winning streak into the Division 6 final.
Parker Coss is batting .417 with a team-high 31 RBIs. He averaged 18 points a game for the school's basketball team this past winter.
Left-handed pitcher Sam Eichler is 10-2 with a 0.65 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 751/3 innings and is batting .311 with 18 RBIs. He is one of only three seniors in the projected starting lineup for the Division 6 final.
Capistrano Valley Christian coach Clemente Bonilla said the Knights are similar to Capo Valley Christian.
"They're a good defensive team, and like us they can compete with higher division schools."
Capo Valley Christian beat La Quinta and lost by one run to Golden West League champion Westminster.
