Capo Valley no match for tenacious Long Beach Jordan
Capistrano Valley vs. L.B. Jordan
MISSION VIEJO - The inexperience of the Capistrano Valley football team (2-1) caught up to it Friday night as it lost to a tenacious Long Beach Jordan team, 38-7, at Capistrano Valley High.
The Panthers (3-0) wasted no time scoring in the nonleague game. A 63-yard opening kickoff return by Vincent Porter was followed by a 27-yard touchdown run by C.J. Wiley.
On the ensuing drive, The Cougars (2-1) coughed up the football and saw the 235-pound Panthers defensive lineman Marcus Lewis returned the fumble 80 yards for a TD.
The Panthers left the Cougars dazed as they recovered three of six fumbles, and benefited greatly from great field position on punts and kickoffs.
"They are making the mistakes first-time starters make," Capo Valley coach Chi Chi Biehn said. "We are coaching the hell out of them, and we need them to grow up fast."
Cougars quarterback Brandon Brennan did connected with Dalton Slye on a 33-yard touchdown pass before halftime and held the Panther offense in check in the second half.
