ORANGE - El Modena running back Ray Holley rushed for 275 yards and two touchdowns in a Century League football game against Canyon on Friday night at El Modena High.
But the Vanguards couldn't slow down Canyon's multi-pronged attack and the Comanches came away with a 42-21 victory.
The victory puts the Comanches (8-2, 3-2) in the playoffs and ends the season for the Vanguards (6-4, 2-3).
Quarterback Jordan Thomas completed 11 of 17 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Comanches. Josh Hawkins accounted for 251 multipurpose yards in contributing to the Comanches' 437 yards of offense.
Jared Gobert led Canyon's special teams with an 89-yard kickoff return in the second quarter. Gobert's return came one play after Holley scored his first touchdown.
