2009 All-COUNTY BOYS GOLF: FIRST TEAM

ALEX BUNGERT, JUNIOR, VILLA PARK

He was the only player from Orange County to qualify for the state championship tournament at Poppy Hills by shooting a 4-under 68 in the SCGA So-Cal Championship to tie for fifth. He birdied his first playoff hole at the SCGA event to secure a spot in state.

RYAN TETRAULT, SOPHOMORE, VILLA PARK

He was a 12-time medalist for Villa Park, which spent the majority of the season ranked No. 2 in the county. He advanced to the CIF-SS Individual championships after carding a 2-under 70 at Skylinks to tie for fourth in the CIF Southern Regional.

MIKE MOORHEAD, FRESHMAN, CORONA DEL MAR

He was one of the five county players to qualify for the So-Cal Championships as an individual. He shot a 2-over 74 at the SCGA Members Course in Murrieta. The Pacific Coast League champion shot a 2-under 70 at Skylinks in the Southern Regional to tie for fourth.

TRAVIS RUSSELL, JUNIOR, NEWPORT HARBOR

He shot a 1-under 71 at the SCGA So-Cal Championships in Murrieta to tie for the second-best showing for a county player at the tournament. He tied for eighth in the Southern Section championships, shooting a 2-over 73 at Hacienda Country Club.

JEFFREY KANG, JUNIOR, SUNNY HILLS

He is one of the top junior golfers in the country. He is 12th in the current Polo AJGA rankings and ninth in the Golfweek poll with a 69.87 rating. He was a six-time medalist for the Lancers, who spent the majority of the season ranked in the county top 10.

DIWEN CHEN, SENIOR, SANTA MARGARITA

He posted one of the lowest nine-hole rounds of the season, carding a 5-under 30 at Willowick. He shot a 6-under 66 at Recreation Park in Long Beach during a match against Long Beach Wilson. He also finished with a 2-under 70 at Skylinks to tie for fourth in the CIF Southern Region individual tournament.
