Colby leads Sunny Hills past Buena Park
BUENA PARK — Elliott Colby rushed for a career-high 186 yards and scored two touchdowns as Sunny Hills defeated Buena Park, 26-15, in a Freeway League game Thursday night at Buena Park High.
The Lancers snapped a four-game losing streak.
Colby gave Sunny Hills (4-6, 1-4) a 6-0 lead midway through the opening quarter with an 11-yard TD run. The key play of the drive was Colby’s 73-yard run from the Lancers' 1-yard-line. Buena Park was assessed a 15-yard penalty on the run. On the next play, Colby rambled into the end zone.
Later in the quarter, Jae Byun returned an interception 85 yards for a touchdown, increasing Sunny Hills’ lead to 14-0.
Jimmy Davis capped a 73-yard drive with a 17-yard TD run, trimming the Lancers' lead to 14-7.
However, with less than 20 seconds to play in the first half Tanner Christensen completed an 11-yard TD pass to Ryan Purvis for a 20-7 lead.
Davis rushed for 111 yards and scored two touchdowns for the Coyotes (2-8, 0-5).
