Bowers hired as Esperanza football coach

Gary Bowers has been hired as the football coach at Esperanza, the school confirmed Tuesday.
Bowers, who graduated from Esperanza in 1997 and was an all-league center for the Aztecs as a senior, replaces Greg Kemp, who resigned after last season.
Bowers spent the 2012 season as the offensive line coach at Fullerton College. Before that he was an offensive line coach at Los Alamitos (2009-11) and El Dorado (2004-08).
Esperanza went 6-5 overall and 3-3 in the Century League last season.
