TUESDAY'S CIF-SS SOFTBALL SEMIFINALS

DIVISION II

KENNEDY (29-3) VS. EL MODENA (24-8-1)

Site, time: El Modena High, 3:15 p.m.

Outlook:Top-seeded Kennedy, the Empire League champion, is looking for its second consecutive trip to the finals. The Fighting Irish bring a 13-game winning streak into this all-county matchup against the Vanguards, who won the Century League championship and have an eight-game winning streak. The Cal-bound Reid twins, Jamia and Elia, hit for average, power and they have incredible speed on the bases for Kennedy. Oklahoma-bound Allee Allen has been the most dominant pitcher in the county this season. Kylie Wagner is El Modena's ace in the circle and she is a clutch hitter. Cal State Dominguez Hills-bound Emily McEwen is another big bat for the Vanguards.

GLENDORA (18-9) VS. PACIFICA (22-10)

Site, time: Pacifica High, 3:15 p.m.

Outlook: The Tartans, who were co-champions of the Sierra League, have won nine of their past 10 games, including upsets over second-seeded Etiwanda, 1-0, and Vista Murrieta, 3-2, in the playoffs. Pacifica, the defending Division II champions, is coming off a 1-0 victory over third-seeded Lakewood and appears to have found their rhythm at the right time. Central Arizona-bound pitcher Katie Tamayo is throwing well and with confidence for the Mariners. UCLA-bound Andrea Harrison (.408, 13 HR, 44 RBIs), Arizona State-bound Christina Zambrana (.337, 4 HR, 18 RBIs) and Arizona-bound Kristen Arriola (.364, 8 HR, 27 RBIs, 21 SB) lead Pacifica's high-powered offense.

DIVISION IV

OCEAN VIEW (27-1) VS. POMONA CATHOLIC (19-12)

Site, time: Palomares Park, Pomona, 3:15 p.m.

Outlook: The Pacers, who won the Christian League title, have won nine of their past 10 games, including a 1-0 victory over top-seeded La Quinta of La Quinta in the quarterfinals. The fourth-seeded Seahawks, the Golden West League champions, bring a 17-game winning streak into this matchup. Pitcher Tori Sadlak, who is batting a team-high .386 with 18 RBIs, is 19-12 with a 2.10 ERA and 187 strikeouts in 196 innings for Pomona Catholic. Brianna Marcatoni (.366, 24 RBIs) and Shelby Reis (.344, 24 RBIs) are two of the Pacers' top offensive players. Sophomore pitcher Holli Floetker (16-1, 0.62 ERA, 188 strikeouts) is Ocean View's ace and she is one of the team's top hitters, batting .378 with eight homers and 26 RBIs. Arizona State-bound catcher Nikole Afusia (.517, 38 RBIs, 40 runs) is another big-time producer for Ocean View.
