Beckman steamrolls Ocean View, 62-24
Jeff Kim racks up 204 rushing yards and five TDs.
HUNTINGTON BEACH -- Jeff Kim scored four rushing touchdowns and added another receiving as Beckman defeated Ocean View, 62-24, in the second round of the CIF-SS Southern Division playoffs Friday night at Ocean View High.
The game was played with a running clock in the fourth quarter as Beckman (10-2) carried a 45-point lead into the final quarter.
Kim finished with 204 rushing yards on 13 carries, including a scoring run of 90 yards midway through the third quarter. He also caught a 26-yard touchdown pass from Cameron Biedgoly to put Beckman up 28-10 three minutes before halftime.
Beckman will face Estancia in next week's semifinals.

"We were excited about coming in here and playing a quality opponent," Beckman coach Ken Mushinskie said. "Ocean View has some real good players. We just talked about not letting up and continuing to push."
Ocean View (6-6), which trailed 35-10, received its biggest play to start the second half. Travis Sparks brook free for a 70-yard TD burst to cut the deficit to 35-21. Sparks finished with 162 yards on 33 carries.
Beckman's defense forced five turnovers, including four interceptions. Two were by Elijah Steen, who returned one of them for a 75-yard touchdown. That put Beckman up 49-17.
James Kaprielian had the other two interceptions to go along with a 59-yard TD pass from Biedgoly. It came on the first play after Sparks' long TD run and put Beckman ahead 42-17 early in the third quarter.
The 62 points were the most all-time for Beckman, breaking the previous record of 59.
Kim took the game's opening kickoff 69 yards to the Ocean View 25. Four players later he ran in from 9 yards to start the scoring.
Ocean View's Colton Johnson took the Sea Hawks' first kickoff 84 yards to Beckman's 6, but the Patriots defense held on downs.
Nick Moon scored on a 10-yard touchdown run on Beckman's second possession to give the Patriots a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter.
The only downside to Beckman's performance Friday night was the 75 yard in first-half penalties. It included four personal foul penalties.
"In the locker room at halftime we talked about coming out and letting our play do the talking for us," Mushinskie said.
