Patriots slip to 3-1.
MONROVIA - Beckman’s bid for an undefeated season came crashing down in a 32-7 loss to Monrovia at Monrovia High on Friday.

“When you don’t come out focused and ready to play, anybody can beat you,” Beckman coach Fred Shambaugh said. “This was a great opportunity for us to grow up as a team.”

The Patriots (3-1) struggled to control the line of scrimmage, allowing 167 rushing yards and 91 passing in the first half.

Beckman kept the game close despite the slow start. Cody Demavivas’s touchdown with 8:01 left cut the Patriots’ deficit to 19-7.

“(Tyler) Sackman got a big run to get us down the field,” Demavivas said. “Then we were just going to push the ball into the end zone no matter what.”

Maquise Williams put the game away for the Wildcats (2-2) with 125 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
