No. 3 Laguna Beach beats No. 4 Edison in battle of goalies
Junior goalie Etianne Manetta made 18 saves to lead Laguna Beach’s No. 3 girls water polo team past visiting No. 4 Edison, 6-4, in a nonleague match Tuesday.
Edison senior goalie Clair Babinski also played well, collecting 14 saves.
Jessie Holechek paced the Breakers’ offense with two goals. She also added three steals for Laguna Beach (2-0)
Alys Williams scored twice for Edison (7-2).
In another nonleague match:
No. 5 Corona del Mar 4, No. 10 El Toro 3: Corona del Mar (2-2) scored twice in the fourth period – including the go-ahead score with 1:32 remaining - to hold off the Chargers (5-2). Freshman Allison Skaggs scored three goals for El Toro. Skaggs nearly scored on a backhander from center to force overtime but her goal came just after the buzzer. Margot Money scored twice for Corona del Mar.
