Laguna Beach rips Calvary
LAGUNA BEACH - Laguna Beach proved that its 2-4 record going into the game was not all that it seemed, and so did Alec Jaffe. The running back rushed for 286 yards with four touchdowns as the Breakers beat visiting Calvary Chapel, 856-24, Friday in an Orange Coast League game.
The Breakers’ defense stopped the Eagles (4-3, 1-1) on the first possession when Ryan Raffo sacked the quarterback. On the Breakers’ next possession, quarterback Austin Paxson scored from 1 yard out after a 14-yard run by Norton Penney.
Later in the first quarter, Jaffe pushed his way through the Eagles defense and scored on a 43-yard run to give the Breakers (3-4, 2-0) a 14-0 lead.
“Our offensive line did a great job for me. They opened up a lot of holes for me, and I give them a lot of credit,” Jaffe said.
In the second quarter, the Eagles got their initial first down of the game when Brandon Perez had a 14-yard gain. They later scored on the same drive when QB John McLuckey scored from the 1-yard line on fourth down.
