Anaheim's one-two punch knocks out Rancho Alamitos
Mike Reyes and Luis Amaya lead attack.
The Colonists (2-1) forced four first-half turnovers and jumped to a 21-0 lead in the second quarter on Reyes’ three scores.
Anaheim broke it open through the air when Luis Reyna threw touchdown passes of 43 and 63 yards to Amaya to make it 34-0 early in the third.
Reyna completed 5 of 7 passes for 136 yards.
“That’s something we’ve been trying to improve on,” Anaheim coach Lanny Booher said of the passing game. “It was nice to get that on track.”
The Vaqueros (1-2) got a 10-yard touchdown pass from Mike Frank to Bryan Camino in the third quarter.
Anaheim converted four turnovers into 14 points in the first half. Jose Luis Parada had an interception and recovered a fumble, and Israel Reyes and Diego Gomez each had interceptions.
