Amrine leads Segerstrom
HUNTINGTON BEACH Aaron Amrine scored three touchdowns for visiting Segerstrom in its 42-29 Golden West League victory over Ocean View.
Amrine’s 25-yard touchdown run for the Jaguars at the end of the first quarter tied the score, and quarterback Brian Murrieta connected with Atlas Smith on a 23-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter that put Segerstrom (3-4, 2-0) up for good.
Through three quarters, the Jaguars defense kept the Seahawks mostly in check, but Tim Robinson and Nolan Tippy broke free in the fourth quarter to score the final 22 points for Ocean View (3-4, 0-2) on short touchdown runs.
After being contained early, Robinson finished the game with 218 yards on 29 carries and three touchdowns.
With Segerstrom leading by 14 points late in the fourth quarter, Ocean View attempted an onside kick. Matt Navarro scooped up the ball and scored on a 65-yard return.
In the end, the balanced ground game of Segerstrom appeared to be too much for the Seahawks to overcome, with eight players carrying the ball for the Jaguars.
