Kickoff '08: Aliso Niguel Wolverines

OCVarsity.com

Aliso Niguel

Last season: 1-9, 0-5 (sixth place)

Postseason: 2005, lost to Tustin, 28-10 in Division VI quarterfinals

Coach: Jeff Veeder (fourth Year, 16-16)

Outlook: The Wolverines struggled mightily in 2007, and with only seven returning starters, 2008 could be another rough season. Junior quarterbacks Joey Galosic and T.J. Romano will direct a Wolverine offense looking to improve on a paltry 7.1 points-per-game average in 2007. Senior tight end Chad Seymour and junior wide receiver Russ Abdulla will be the primary targets, while senior Blake Lawrence will assume the majority of the running back duties. On defense, the Wolverines will be forced to rely heavily on newcomers, as only two starters return from last season. While the Wolverines have talent at some of their skill positions, they appear to be a season away from making a serious impact on the league standings.

Home stadium: Aliso Niguel

Factoid: Seymour was the top finisher at the CIF Division I track and field discus preliminaries in May with a throw of 173 feet, 9 inches.

Strongest: Robert Voight

Fastest: Hugo De La Rosa

School record: 92-72-1
