Rancho Alamitos cruises to victory
GARDEN GROVE - Rancho Alamitos continued its dominance in the Garden Grove League as it easily defeated Santiago, 45-0, Thursday night at Garden Grove High.
The victory — their fifth in a row — improved the Vaqueros' record to 8-1 overall, 4-0 in league, clinched their third consecutive postseason berth, and set up a showdown for the league championship on Nov. 10 against Los Amigos, which plays sixth-place La Quinta on Friday night.
"Every game is going to be a battle now," Vaqueros coach Mike Enright said.

That would be a drastic change for the Vaqueros. In their past four games, Rancho Alamitos has outscored its league opponents, 156-20.
On Thursday, Rancho Alamitos scored on seven of its first nine possessions, and had a commanding 31-0 lead at halftime.
Six players scored touchdowns, including senior running back Brett Hurley, who crossed the 1,000-yard barrier after finishing with 99 yards rushing and two scores.
Hurley has 1,087 yards, which ranks him sixth in Orange County.
In recording its second shutout of the season, the Vaqueros limited Santiago (1-8, 1-3) to just 60 total yards and three first downs.
The loss dropped the Cavaliers out of contention for a CIF-Southern Section playoff berth.
