Saldivar carries Los Amigos past Ocean View
GARDEN GROVE - It was the Gerardo Saldivar show from start to finish as the senior running back scored four touchdowns to lead Los Amigos over Ocean View, 42-0, in a nonleague game Saturday night at Garden Grove High School.
Saldivar, who rushed for 246 yards on 23 carries, set the tempo for the Lobos (3-2) on their first play, when he dashed 85 yards for the touchdown.
The Lobos defense was stout all night against the Seahawks (2-3), allowing only 15 yards through the air, and less than 100 in total offense.
Los Amigos didn’t allow the Seahawks into the red zone all game and barely allowed them past the 50.
Late in the first quarter Saldivar struck again, this time on a 7-yard run that gave the Lobos a 14-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Angel Gomez took a handoff from 19 yards out for a touchdown, and Saldivar ran 5 yards for another rushing touchdown, his third of the first half.
Quarterback Anthony Magana added balance to the offense, completing 11 of 18 passes for 203 yards. His main target was Noe Perez, who caught four passes for 113 yards.
When the offense got near the goal line though, it didn’t mess around and simply turned to Saldivar, who also scored in the third quarter for his fourth and final touchdown.
The Lobos next play against Rancho Alamitos in what will be their first Garden Grove League game of the season.
