Orange County’s top players to watch in boys tennis for the 2020 season:

Conrad Brown, University, So.

Brown, the No. 10 sophomore in the state by Tennis Recruiting Network, is part of the Trojans’ Big 3 with Rithvik Krishna and Soomin Lee.

Andy Hernandez, Troy, Jr.

The reigning Freeway League champion briefly left the school but will make his season debut next week.

Jake Huarte, Mater Dei, Sr.

The Army-bound left-hander is off to a 12-0 start and will face some high-profile challenges, including Fountain Valley on March 12.

Rithvik Krishna, University, Jr.

Krishna, the No. 14 junior in the state according to Tennis Recruiting Network, went 19-1 against county opponents last season, only losing to Irvine’s Daniel Wei.

Soomin Lee, University, Sr.

Lee, a key contributor to the team that won the CIF-SS Open Divison title last season, has committed to Wesleyan in Connecticut

Jiaxi Ma, Woodbridge, Jr.

Ma impressed last season as a second-team All-County pick and now ranks as Tennis Recruiting Network’s No. 12 junior in California.

Alex Michelsen, Aliso Niguel, Fr.

Wolverines coach Jeff Pinter calls Michelsen, the No. 8 class of 2023 prospect in the state according to Tennis Recruiting Network, the “real deal” with a “complete game.” Michelsen is undefeated so far.

Roshan Morey, Laguna Hills, Jr.

Count the Sea View League standout among the top juniors in Orange County.

Steve Nguyen, Canyon, Fr.

Nguyen ranks as a five-star recruit and the No. 18 freshman in the state according to Tennis Recruiting Network.

Cory Pham, Northwood, Jr.

Pham is part of the mix in the ultra-tough Pacific Coast League.

Alan Ton, Fountain Valley, Fr.

The 5-foot-6 Ton ranks as California’s No. 16 class of 2023 prospect according to Tennis Recruiting Network and has already defeated Irvine’s Daniel Wei 6-3.

Daniel Wei, Irvine, Sr.

The reigning Pacific Coast League champion burst onto the scene last spring and has committed to Air Force. He played soccer in the winter so look for him be stronger later in the spring.

Griffen Wolfe, San Clemente, Sr.

The reigning South Coast League champion continues to improve so don’t be surprised by a deeper run in the CIF individual championships.
