Santa Margarita's victory over Trabuco Hills, Sept. 7:
After a tumultuous week that saw another top player transfer to Mission Viejo, the Eagles exploded with a big effort against the Mustangs. Santa Margarita recorded 609 total yards, eclipsing their previous school record of 583 set in the 1997 CIF Finals. Spearheading the big totals was Stanton, who celebrated his 18th birthday by breaking current Oakland Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer's school record for total yards. If that wasn't enough, Eagles head coach Harry Welch coached the team to a victory in his 300th game on the sidelines as a high school coach.
