St. John Bosco backup quarterback Joey Yellen has enrolled at Mission Viejo, Diablos football coach Bob Johnson confirmed Thursday.

Yellen, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound sophomore, played in nine games last season for the Division 1 and state champion Braves. He completed 12 of 22 passes for 176 yards and one TD.

Mission Viejo will be looking to replace senior quarterback Matt McDonald, who signed Wednesday with Boston College, highlighting National Signing Day.

The Diablos feature two of the top wide receivers in Southern California in seniors-to-be Austin Osborne and Olaijah Griffin.
