The CIF water polo playoffs are back, and so are my annual playoff predictions. In the spirit of fun, generating interest and previewing the matches, here’s my predicted winners for the girls wild-card games Tuesday:

Division 1

Santa Margarita def. Huntington Beach (OCV match of the day)

Tough match to predict but the Eagles’ late-season surge suggests they will be ready. The Oilers are talented and have the 2-meter attack to give Santa Margarita trouble but are still searching for that late-season breakthrough. Maybe it arrives today.

And this match wasn’t just tough for me to predict. I polled my Twitter followers and the Oilers held a 60 percent to 40 percent advantage as of early Tuesday afternoon.

Division 3

Sunny Hills def. Corona

Lancers edged Corona, 7-6, earlier this season

Division 4

Capo Valley def. Claremont

Another tough one to predict. Claremont finished 10th in final Division 4 poll and pushed Bonita in league. Cougars will need to play better than last week against Trabuco.

Division 6

Tustin def. Loara

Santa Ynez def. Valencia
