Tesoro All-County quarterback Devon Modster committed to a new Pac-12 school on Monday, one much closer to home.

The senior announced on Twitter his commitment to UCLA, ending the short reboot of his recruitment following his announcement on Dec. 31 that he was no longer committed to Arizona.

“After a long talk with my family members, I am blessed to announce that I’m going to be a Bruin!” Modster wrote in a Twitter post, which included a photo illustration of him in a UCLA jersey and the Rose Bowl in the background.

Before committing to UCLA, Modster was regarded as Orange County’s top uncommitted recruit in the class of 2016. National Signing Day is Feb. 3.

Modster made an official visit to UCLA over the weekend. His verbal pledge gives the Bruins a second quarterback recruit in their class of 2016, pairing him with Matt Lynch of Colorado’s Legacy High.

“I’m excited for him,” Tesoro coach Matt Poston said of Modster. “It’s obviously a great program and what they’ll be doing offensively fits his skill-set very well.”

Modster (6-2, 220) passed for 3,405 yards and 26 touchdowns last season. He showed improved accuracy with only five interceptions, three of which were in his final game.

He also rushed for 14 touchdowns.
