Several of Orange County’s top junior football recruits will compete at the Nike Football The Opening Regional at Redondo Union High on Sunday.
The combine-style event begins at 9 a.m. and features testing, Elite 11 quarterback training, position drills, one-on-one competition and linemen competitions. The regional ends around 3:30 p.m.
The county is expected to be represented by juniors such as San Clemente quarterback Jack Sears, Corona del Mar quarterback Chase Garbers, Mater Dei receiver Osiris St. Brown, Orange Lutheran safety Brandon McKinney, Buena Park receiver Jeremiah Hawkins, Santa Margarita offensive lineman Brett Neilon, Santa Margarita wide receiver Grant Calcaterra and Mission Viejo linebacker Colin Schooler.
The regional also is expected to included freshman quarterback JT Daniels of Mater Dei, the Mater Dei sophomores duo of receiver Amon-ra St. Brown and tackle Tommy Brown and Mission Viejo sophomore cornerback Olaijah Griffin.
Brethren Christian running back Jordan Leonard is among the potential sleepers from the county.
