Girls soccer: All-county capsules, coach of the year

ALL-COUNTY TEAM CAPSULES
FIRST TEAM
Elizabeth Brezden, Canyon, Sr.
The co-Century League MVP led the Comanches with 10 goals and five assists, as Canyon won the Century League title. In the CIF-SS Division II playoffs, Brezden scored the game-winning goal in both of the Comanches' postseason triumphs. She will attend Pepperdine.
Justyne Freud, Mater Dei, Sr.
The senior displayed tremendous leadership and a gritty style of play, helping guide the Monarchs to CIF-SS Division semifinals. Freud, who will attend Oregon State, produced eight goals and nine assists. She was named Trinity League offensive player of the year.
Lauren Kennedy, Esperanza, Jr.
After missing her sophomore season with a knee injury, the forward returned to the field in impressive fashion this season. Her team-high 14 goals helped guide co-Sunset League champion Esperanza to the CIF Division I quarterfinals.
Mariah Noguiera, Marina, Jr.
One of the county's most talented and versatile players, Noguiera played every minute of the league season, leading the Vikings in scoring with nine goals. She was named Sunset League defensive player of the year, as Marina advanced to the CIF Division I semifinals.
Claudia Rodriguez, Santa Ana Valley, Jr.
Displaying a devastating combination of speed and agility, Rodriguez led the county with 30 goals and 34 assists for the Falcons, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Division IV playoffs.
Katie Suits, Los Alamitos, Sr.
Suits was the heart and soul of a Griffin team that was co-champion of the Sunset League and advanced to quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Division I playoffs. The Sunset League player of the year scored 12 goals, while dishing out 10 assists. She has signed to play at Cal.
Hannah Turpen, San Clemente, Sr.
The CIF-SS Division I defensive player of the year was the driving force behind the improbable run of the Division I co-champion Tritons. She used her quick reflects, soft hands, and excellent goal awareness to make the impossible save look routine. She will attend Utah.
Kendall VanDine, Brea Olinda, Sr.
The Fresno State bound senior enjoyed a dominant season, setting a new Wildcats record with 26 goals. VanDine, who was named co-Century League MVP, also contributed 14 assists.
Rachel Wood, Aliso Niguel, Sr.
The North Carolina-bound senior attacked defenses relentlessly with her hard-nosed style. Her presence on the field also helped create better scoring chances for her teammates, as she contributed six assists, many of them in clutch situations.
Cory Yoshida, Northwood, Sr.
The standout defender was the anchor of a Northwood defense that produced 17 shutouts, while allowing only two goals during Sea View League competition. Yoshida will go to UC Santa Barbara.

COACH OF THE YEAR
Stacey Finnerty, San Clemente
In her eighth season, Finnerty guided the Tritons to a 23-3-7 overall record, the South Coast League title and a share of the CIF-SS Division I title. She has now coached San Clemente to the CIF-SS Division I title (2002) and a share of the title in 2003, 2004, and 2008. “I'm proud for our players, the program, and the city,” said Finnerty. “Everything that we worked for this season was earned and showed our team's character.”
