Softball Preview: Top 6 players
Kennedy's Jamia and Elia Reid lead the list of the top players in the county.
Top 5 players to watch
Andrea Harrison
Pacifica, Senior, Outfield
The UCLA-bound outfielder might be the best all-around player in the county. She is an outstanding defensive player with a cannon for an arm. She can slap or hit for power and she has speed. She hit .445 with nine homers, 13 doubles and 40 RBIs and made first team All-County last season.
Jamia Reid
Kennedy, Senior, Outfield
Jamia, who signed with Cal, is the most dangerous leadoff hitter in the county. If she makes contact with the ball, she puts pressure on defenses because of her incredible speed. If she gets on base, she is stealing second and probably third. She hit .459 with 41 stolen bases and 33 runs scored and made first team All-County last season.
Elia Reid
Kennedy, Senior, Outfield
Elia, who also signed with Cal, is another speedster on the basepaths. Both Elia and Jamia have been working on their slapping the past few seasons, but Elia tends to hit for more power. She hit .379 with five homers and 25 RBIs and made second team All-County last season.
Emily McEwen
El Modena, Senior, Third base
McEwen, who signed with Cal State Dominguez Hills, might be the top power hitter in the county. She is the kind of hitter who can make hard contact wherever pitchers try to pitch her. She hit .423 with four homers and 17 RBIs last season.
Allee Allen
Kennedy, Senior, Pitcher
The Fighting Irish lost Brooke Turner to graduation, but this Oklahoma-bound lefty is ready to step into the circle. She has the potential and the kind of heat on her fastball to be the county's top pitcher. She led the Worth Firecrackers to a national championship last summer.
Niki Williams
El Toro, Senior, Third base
Williams, who signed with Washington, is one of the best pure hitters in the county. She hits for power and average and she has speed. She is an excellent fielder and has a great arm. She hit .484 with nine homers and 23 RBIs last season.
