Edison vs. Compton recap
HUNTINGTON BEACH - Nick Crissman passed for 162 yards and two touchdowns, Araseo Lakey rushed for two scores and Edison's defense held Compton to four first downs in a 28-10 victory Friday night in a CIF-Southern Section Pac-5 Division first-round game at Huntington Beach High.
Lakey and Michael Bogard caught Crissman's touchdown passes, with Lakey getting seven receptions for 104 yards as the Chargers (8-3) recorded their fifth consecutive victory.
The triumph advances Edison to the quarterfinals, where it will face Orange Lutheran next week. The defeat for Compton (7-3) was its third in a row.
"We're playing great defense right now," Edison coach Dave White said. "That's a tough offense to stop, but our kids really responded tonight."
Edison responded to Compton's opening scorewith a 48-yard pass from Crissman to Lakey. The Chargers took the lead for good on their next possession when Lakey capped an 8-play, 61-yard drive with a 9-yard scoring run.
Edison increased its lead when Crissman hit Bogard with a 20-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, and Lakey provided the game's final score with a 3-yard touchdown run.
